David Ryon for U.S. Congress ~ Ohio's 15th District
Constitution Party Nominee ~ General Election ~ November 2, 2010
Press Release by David Ryon for Congress, 2010 Pro-Life Constitution Party Candidate, 15th Congressional District, Ohio ~ November 3, 2009
I decided to leave the GOP due to a comment made recently by GOP Chairman Michael Steele while visiting the 15th congressional district in Ohio. In the Article by Joe Hallett, Steele was asked if there is room in the party for a pro-abortion rights candidate such as Steve Stivers, who is favored to win the GOP nomination next year to challenge incumbent Democratic Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy. Steele's response:
"There absolutely is, there absolutely is," Steele said. "The key thing right now -- and I think this is true for Republicans across the country -- is to have leadership that reflects the communities I live in, where we're from. As we get ready for the battles that lie ahead from this district to all the districts surrounding the state, that you're going to find those candidates emerge and rise up who reflect those values in those communities, and that's a very important step for the party to take, I think, and I'm looking forward to help lead that charge in the future." Steve Stivers told me he favors first trimester abortions. Stivers added he would not change his position because it would cost him the election. If the GOP Leadership is going to back such a man then I can no longer be a member of the Republican Party.
I ask all Americans that respect the US Constitution and who support Life, Liberty and Limited Government as I do consider membership in the Constitution Party.
