On February 11, David Ryon filed petitions with the maximum number of signatures allowed to run for Congress in Ohio's 15th Congressional District.
The Constitution Party was first recognized in Ohio in 2008. Dr. Chuck Baldwin, the 2008 CP Presidential Candidate, was endorsed by Ron Paul, an internet sensation in the 2008 GOP Presidential Primary. The Constitution Party advances the same basic policies as those made popular by Dr. Paul in 2008 and subsequent Tea Party rallies in 2009. The 2010 candidacy was made possible by Directive 2009-21 issued by Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner on December 31, 2009.
The Ryon candidacy sets up a likely challenge with incumbent Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy and Republican Steve Stivers, both frontrunners in their respective parties. Both Kilroy and Stivers will be facing primary opponents.
"Stivers and Kilroy are both pro-abortion candidates," Ryon said. "I will obey our Constitution, defend civil liberties, advocate 2nd Amendment rights, respect State Sovereignty and protect our Republic." For more information about the Constitution Party of Ohio, see www.cpofohio.org.
